En 1977 LA GAMA Simca 1000 recibe un restyling que prácticamente puede llevar a tener que hablar de una segunda generación del modelo, ya que los cambios fueron más allá de la estética.

En el frontal recibió un grupo óptico rectangular, con una rejilla de plástico negro entre ellos.

El nombre se cambiaba, ahora se llamaba Simca 1005 y Simca 1006, según la potencia de los motores y los CV fiscales a los que se refería (5 o 6).

El 1005 estaba disponible en nivel de terminación LS y el 1006 era GLS, con algunas mejoras mecánicas y de confort respecto al primero.

El motor del “1006 GLS” era un 1.118cc, que desarrollaba 55CV a 5.800 RPM. Su velocidad máxima era de 145 km/h.

Esta generación fue muy efímera, ya que al año siguiente, en 1978, se discontinuó la gama, habiéndose vendido en total 1.949.407 copias, un auténtico éxito de la industria automotriz francesa.
